Man arrested, charged after assaulting ex-girlfriend, stabbing friend

Caleb Liepold

BAYTOWN, Texas - A man was arrested and charged after he assaulted a woman and her friend on Saturday evening, according to the Baytown Police Department.

Authorities say, Caleb Liepold assaulted his ex-girlfriend when he went to her home in the 3300 block of Michigan Street.

The woman told officers she was assaulted earlier in the evening by Liepold and then again around 11 p.m.

She said she had a protective order against her ex but allowed him to come to her home to pick up some of his belongings later that evening.

At the time, a friend of the woman, Jose Garcia, was staying with her and confronted Liepold after he had assaulted the woman a second time.

Garcia was reportedly carrying Nunchakus with him and used them on Liepold when the two got into an argument.

Officers said Liepold then took out a knife and stabbed Garcia several times. He suffered injuries to the back of the head, the arm, and his hand. Garcia was flown to a Houston-area hospital in stable condition.

Liepold was later arrested and charged with Assault Family - Violence as well as Violation of a Protective Order. Garcia was also charged in the incident with Aggravated Assault.

Liepold was taken to the Baytown Jail. Officers said a warrant will be filed for Garcia once he is released from the hospital.

At this time, it is unclear if the woman suffered serious injuries.
