HOUSTON - According to the Harris County Sheriff's Office, one suspect has died following a deputy-involved shooting.
A second suspect is in custody. Initially, a third suspect was reported at large but HCSO says that all suspects have been accounted for.
HCSO says that four deputies discharged their weapons when a suspect tried to ram a stolen vehicle into a deputy's patrol car, nearly injuring the deputies.
Shortly after 2 p.m. Tuesday, Harris County Precinct 1 deputies were tracking a stolen vehicle in the 9500 block Airline near West Mount Houston and asked for the Harris County Sheriff's Office assistance. The truck had reportedly been stolen from a Morgan Air Services technician in the Garden Oaks area. The truck had a tracking device on it, so Pct. 1 constables and deputies were able to follow it.
According to HCSO, when the truck was surrounded, suspects exited the vehicle and ran but the driver stayed in the truck, using the car to ram the deputy's vehicle. The deputies then fired their weapons, fatally shooting the driver.
HCSO added that there have been reports that the suspects could have been involved in several robberies.
The deputies involved will be placed on administrative duty pending the investigation.
