Stranger danger: Katy ISD student approached by man in white SUV

A nearby construction worker saw the interaction and walked up to the student to see if she was okay. The student told the construction worker that she was scared, so he waited with her until her mom came.
Students in Katy are enjoying a break from homework Wednesday night. It's the district's first of many nights with no homework.

KATY, Texas – A Katy ISD student is frightened after she was approached by a suspicious man Monday during her walk home from school.

Around 3:50 p.m. a Mayde Creek High School student was walking on Groeschke Road near Barkers Woos Lane when a Hispanic man driving a white SUV attempted to speak to her, according to Katy ISD police.

The man repeatedly spoke Spanish to the student and kept pointing down the road, police said.

The student told the man she couldn’t understand him and began calling her mom.

A nearby construction worker saw the interaction and walked up to the student to see if she was okay. The student told the construction worker that she was scared, so he waited with her until her mom came.

The man is described as 30 to 40 years old with no facial hair. He is medium built with medium length black hair and about 6 feet tall.
