Houston police are investigating an officer-involved shooting in west Houston.

The shooting occurred Friday afternoon in the 10300 block of Richmond Avenue.

Witnesses at the scene say the suspect saw a woman with a large sum of money and tried to take the money. A Harris County Precinct 1 deputy saw the struggle and tried to break it up. That's when the deputy fired at the suspect, but no one was hit.

The suspect tried driving off, but he crashed his vehicle and hit a building. He was then taken into custody.

Police say the deputy was not injured.
