No injuries in fire at apartment building east of downtown Houston

The fire broke out Saturday night in the 4400 block of Dallas Street near Telephone Road.

HOUSTON — The Houston Fire Department is investigating a fire that broke out Saturday night at an apartment house east of downtown.

Firefighters responded to the scene just before 10 p.m. Saturday in the 4400 block of Dallas Street near Telephone Road. Crews arrived to find a fairly large, older home divided into multiple units burning.

Investigators said the fire started at the backside of the house and made its way through to the front of the structure.

The flames managed to burn through the roof of the building before firefighters were able to extinguish the fire. It took them about 45 - 50 minutes, an HFD deputy chief said.

The house did undergo immense water damage, but firefighters believe the how may be salvageable.

The cause of the fire has not been determined.

HFD said no one was injured.
