HOUSTON – Houston firefighters say a home is a total loss after an overnight fire.

According to the Houston Fire Department, firefighters responded at 8:30 p.m. Thursday to house fire at a home located in the 5200 block of Dogwood Lane near Coral Oak.

When HFD arrived on the scene, they found an older home heavily engulfed in flames. They had to go defensive mode and kept the fire from catching the woods on fire.

The house is a total loss and burned nearly to the ground, HFD said.

The homeowner stated he had gone out to have drinks with his friends and his girlfriend was there by herself at the home.

However, she was nowhere to be found, and HFD Arson tried to call her but she would not answer.

No injuries were reported.
