The Houston Fire Department says stacks of furniture inside a home made it difficult for them to battle a deadly fire late Thursday.
Around 11 p.m. firefighters were called to the 400 block of Neyland Street not far from Crosstimbers and I-45 North.
Firefighters found heavy smoke and flames coming from the home.
Once inside, they say they found a man’s body in a back bedroom. There were stacks of furniture against the doors, making it difficult for firefighters to get in, officials say.
It did not appear anyone else was home at the time.
Arson investigators are now looking into what sparked the blaze.
