HOUSTON - A police chase slowed down traffic on Highway 249 Tuesday afternoon.

According to the Harris County Sheriff's Office, deputies with Precinct 1 began chasing a black truck after trying to pull it over around 1 p.m. The chase went up SH 249 and several side streets before getting back on 249.

Deputies say they threw out spikes, which the suspect's vehicle drove over. Around 2 p.m., the suspect finally stopped in the middle of 249 near Beltway 8 and refused to get out.

A deputy eased his police dog over to the driver's side and tossed the K9 into the suspect's window. The suspect got out of the truck quickly and was immediately taken into custody. Police say the K9 also bit the suspect.

The suspect is now facing several charges.
