HOUSTON - Houston's animal shelter is launching a new effort this month to reach a 90% animal save rate from November to January.

The initiative, called "90-for-90", comes after a successful one month effort last year. One year later, BARC animal shelter is taking the leap to expand the effort to last 90 days instead of 30.

"Over the last few years, Houstonians have helped us reach save rates that we once only considered a pipe dream. We have built robust programs such as adoptions, transfer and rescue, foster, trap-neuter-return and return-to-owner that have helped increase annual save rates from 51% in 2013 and 63% in 2014 to 74% in 2015 and 78% so far in 2016," said Ashtyn Rivet, BARC's Marketing and Outreach Manager.

BARC says that the simplest but most powerful thing you can do to help BARC and pets throughout our community is to talk to your friends, neighbors, and family about caring for pets responsibly. Visit www.HoustonBARC.com to donate to BARC online.
