Houston Community College will hold a groundbreaking ceremony for its new $30 million culinary arts building in midtown Houston on April 10.

The facility will be built on parking lot 10, next to a five-story parking garage bounded by Alabama, La Branch, Winbern and Austin streets. Construction is expected to take about two years, according to a media alert.

Stantec is the architect, and Houston-based Horizon Group International is the general contractor.

The two-story, 38,000-square-foot building will include a cooking and baking lab, a dining room and bar, a dish room, computer labs, classrooms, a student lounge, locker rooms, offices, conference rooms and a reception area.
