Happy holidays! This year, H-E-B is giving the gift of food, with special truckload deliveries of H-E-B Select Ingredients Quick Oats oatmeal to 17 Texas food banks this week.

In an ongoing commitment to battle hunger, H-E-B trucks will be delivering enough oatmeal to provide 2.9 million meals to Texas families across the state. The 17 food banks the donations will be benefiting are affiliated with Feeding America, the nation's leading domestic hunger-relief organization.

“One in six Texans struggle to avoid hunger, including one in four Texas children,” said Danny Flores, H-E-B wenior manager of public affairs. “As the largest food retailer in the state, it is our mission to give back to communities in need and make every effort to ensure families don’t go hungry this holiday season.”

H-E-B's food bank assistance program doesn't just work in the holiday season. After it was established in 1982, the program has been nationally recognized for its financial donations and monthly food deliveries to food banks in Texas and Mexico.

And the oatmeal? It's a great source of fiber and excellent addition to a heart-healthy diet. Like all H-E-B Select Ingredients products, the oatmeal doesn't include any artificial ingredients.

Each food bank will receive 5,760 boxes of oatmeal, which amounts to 172,800 bowls. The food banks receiving deliveries are:
