GALVESTON COUNTY, Texas- The Galveston Island Beach Patrol has launched 22 different water rescues so far over the Fourth of July holiday weekend.

Officials said say the choppy conditions and rip currents have made it tough for those at the beach.

They say the number is unusually high, normally they have around 100 to 200 for the entire year.

On Saturday, an 11-year-old boy was found safe hours after he was swept away from his family while swimming in rough waters in Galveston.
