HOUSTON – ‘Tis the season for holiday shopping, and this year more people than ever are shopping online.

According to the National Retail Federation consumers spent a record $3.45 billion on Cyber Monday alone.

Employees at the FedEx facility are working around the clock.

“During the holiday season we start a lot earlier and we work a lot later,” explained operations manager Francis Singleton. “We expect to hire about 50,000 employees nationwide over the holiday season to meet the demand of the holiday rush.”

More packages mean more “porch pirates,” but there are a few things consumers to do to make sure they’re not targeted.

If no one is home during the day, opt to ship the packages to a different address like work or to a stay at home neighbor’s house.
