A fan who fell a great distance at Sports Authority Field at Mile High following Monday's Houston Texans-Denver Broncos game has died.

The Denver Medical Examiner's Office confirmed 36-year-old Jason Coy died of blunt force injuries.

Denver Police are looking into what happened and said the initial investigation shows Coy was sitting on a stairwell railing and fell approximately 60 feet.

He was taken to Denver Health by ambulance from the stadium and was pronounced dead.

It’s not known if drugs or alcohol played a role in the fall. Lab tests from the autopsy that will determine those results take six to eight weeks to complete.

Prior to the announcement of the fan's death, the Broncos released a statement noting "we are in the process of learning more about this incident from the Denver Police Department’s investigation."
