HOUSTON - The Dallas Morning News has chosen Mayor Sylvester Turner as one of its 'Texans of the Year'.

The newspaper cites Turner's calm handling of Hurricane Harvey as one of the deciding factors, calling it "grace under fire" and noted his dedication to the long road to recovery.

"It's been an incredible year. But it also demonstrates that when the city works as a unit, works together, we can make some major things happen," said Turner.

The mayor says the people of Houston actually deserve the award.
