Houston city council member Jack Christie was bothered by the appearance of a community center, so he decided to do something about it.
Christie spent the past several days painting the exterior of the Fonde Community Center near downtown. Christie said he walks past the center every day and was upset with the way it looked outside.
“We’ve got great maintenance crews in this city,” Christie said. “If we can save the city $30,000, we’ll do it.”
Christie said if people would take time to paint, plant or pick up trash, Houston could be the prettiest city in America.
