GALVESTON, Texas - The body of a fisherman who went missing in the San Luis Pass has been recovered, authorities said.
According to the Brazoria County Sheriff's Office, 19-year-old Jacob Szydlowski's body was found yesterday evening by a local fisherman.
The Coast Guard said Szydlowski and another man were wade fishing in chest-deep water near the San Luis Pass Bridge when they were swept off of their feet from a strong incoming tide on Friday morning.
BCSO said the fisherman with Szydlowski had some prior knowledge of how to defeat the under tow and began to float on his back. However, when he came up he was unable to locate Szydlowski.
Searches were conducted by helicopter, boat, and Beach Patrol. The Coast Guard suspended its search efforts for him on Saturday morning.
