Blinking light package in NW Harris Co. was made to look like bomb, authorities say

Constable Alan Rosen with the Harris County Precinct 1 said the package was deliberately made to look like a bomb. It was wrapped in tape with batteries attached and had functioning blinking LED lights that were also beeping. Rosen said someone purposefully did this.

HARRIS COUNTY, Texas -- Deputies allowed residents back in their homes in northwest Harris County after a suspicious package with blinking lights was deemed not dangerous late Monday.

The all-clear was given around 10 p.m. in the 11300 block of Royal Village St. and the 2600 block of Royal Blue Drive.

Constable Alan Rosen with the Harris County Precinct 1 said the package was deliberately made to look like a bomb. It was wrapped in tape with batteries attached and had functioning blinking LED lights that were also beeping.

Constable Rosen confirmed it was not a bomb but says they'll be taking a close look at it to see if they can learn more about who possibly left it there.

Rosen said in light of what's going on in Austin, they can't take any chances and are taking all this very seriously.
