WALLER COUNTY, Texas- The Houston SPCA rescued more than 40 animals from a home in Hockley on Tuesday.

The SPCA says six cats, 40 dogs, a parakeet and two quaker parrots were removed from the home, calling the living conditions "deplorable."

Rescuers say the home was so crowded with crates and debris that officers had to get in through a window because the doors wouldn't open.
The organization says a warrant was issued for the homeowner who is not living in the home.

Some of the animals had medical issues. All of them were brought to the SPCA to be fully examined.

A judge will decided who gets to keep the animals in a hearing set for Tuesday.
