HOUSTON -- The Houston Fire Department says two firefighters were hurt while battling a fire at an apartment complex on the southeast side early Thursday.

The fire was reported on Park Place Boulevard shortly before 9 a.m.

The injuries came when a firefighter cut into a power source with a saw, resulting in a shock, according to HFD.

The firefighter was taken to the hospital, but HFD officials say his or her EKG readings were normal at the scene. A second firefighter was also treated for injuries related to the incident.

Views from Air 11 showed firefighters on the roof of the building battling flames at one corner of the complex. The extent of the damage and the cause of the fire are not yet known.

No other injuries have been reported.
