HOUSTON -- Houston Police confirm two men were killed an early-morning shooting outside Northwest Mall.
The names of the victims have not been released.
The shooting happened not far from a nightclub at the mall, located near the 610 West and 290 interchange. Police are canvassing the area for security camera footage which may help prosecutors build their case.
A number of witnesses who heard the gunfire talked with police about the 4 a.m. incident. A commissioned security officer also witnessed the shooting and saw the suspected gunman drive away in a Chevrolet Silverado.
The security officer called police as he followed the vehicle to a nearby transit center off Old Katy Road and Highway 290. Police arrested the driver and found a .45 caliber handgun inside the truck, along with several shell casings. Police also found a pair of bullet casings matching a .45 caliber gun at the scene of the shootings.
Police say family members of the two victims were able to drive the men to the hospital where they were pronounced dead.
HPD Detective Christopher Elder told KHOU 11 News the shooting was the result of an argument that happened in the parking lot. Police don’t yet know what that argument was about.
