Baylor University hires new Title IX coordinator

Dr. Laura Johnson will join Baylor University in June.

Baylor University hired a new Title IX coordinator, who will start on June 11.

Laura Johnson, Ph.D., will join Baylor from Georgetown (Ky.) College, where she currently works as a Title IX coordinator, in addition to serving as Vice President for Student Life and Dean of Students.

"She has a wide range of experience in student services overall and in the prevention, investigation and management of sexual violence on college campuses," Baylor President Dr. Linda Livingstone wrote in a message to the campus. "As we await Dr. Johnson's arrival, the University will continue to provide the full complement of Title IX services for our campus community as we all commit to addressing the scourge of sexual violence."

The University's last Title IX coordinator, Kristan Tucker, resigned Jan. 2. The reason for Tucker's resignation was never publicly released. Her predecessor, Patty Crawford, quit several months earlier and appeared on national television to say Baylor had failed to adequately address sexual assault.

Maureen Holland, a consulting member of the international legal firm Cozen O'Connor, has been serving as interim Title IX Coordinator while the position has been vacant.
