HOUSTON -- Undercover officers are keeping a close watch on a neighborhood in northwest Houston where car break-ins have been a problem.

Early Wednesday, the officers made an arrest after a foot chase and search for a man accused of breaking into a car. Around 1:30 a.m. Houston Police say they saw the man in the 5300 block of Poinciana. After the man was spotted breaking in, he ran away on foot.

Police used a helicopter and a K-9 unit and say they found the suspect hiding under a car at a nearby home.

The man, who police say was carrying a pistol, was treated for dog bites and then taken into custody.

Police say he faces multiple charges for the break-in, running away and for the weapon.
