HOUSTON - Witnesses helped police nab a shooting suspect early Sunday morning in southwest Houston. 

Around 2:15 a.m., a man was walking to the Sunny's Food Store on Renwick at Glenmont when another man approached him in the parking lot.

Police believe the man was trying to rob the other man and the two got into an altercation.

The suspect shot the man in his stomach and then fled the scene on foot, police said.

Several witnesses saw the shooting and watched the suspect run to a nearby apartment complex. They were able to help police track down the suspect. 

Police found the suspect at the complex and arrested him. Witnesses on the scene were able to identify him to officers. 

The suspect faces Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon charges.

The shooting victim was transported to Ben Taub Hospital in serious condition but officers said he is expected to make a full recovery.
