San Jacinto Co. judge arrested for burglary, tampering with government records

Judge Lovett was arrested for two felonies and one misdemeanor for forgery. All the charges were filed in one indictment steaming from an incident within the County Courthouse on July 7, 2017.

SAN JACINTO COUNTY, Texas - A San Jacinto County judge was arrested Monday for burglary, tampering with government records and other charges.

The San Jacinto County Sheriff’s Office said Judge John Lovett Jr. was arrested around 12:23 p.m. after the San Jacinto Grand Jury met and heard the case bought to them by the Attorney General’s office.

Judge Lovett was charged with two felonies and one misdemeanor for forgery. All the charges were filed in one indictment steaming from an incident within the County Courthouse on July 7, 2017.

He was booked into the San Jacinto County Jail and later bonded out.
