HOUSTON- A suspect is left with a bite mark after he and another man led cops on a police chase in northwest Houston early Saturday morning.
According to the Houston Police Department, they received a call around 12:15 a.m. claiming the two suspects stole their car from their driveway at 10525 Eastex Frwy.
The owner of the car said they heard the engine start and looked out to see it being stolen. They said the two men busted the steering of their SUV and drove off.
A family member immediately jumped in their car and followed after them while on the phone with HPD. Police caught up to them on the 610 North Loop and attempted to pull the vehicle over, but the driver led police on a 15 minute chase in and out of the northwest residential area.
The chase ended at a night club parking lot at the intersection of Hempstead Road and Windfern Road. The suspects ran through a cable line across the field next door, disabling the vehicle in the middle of the field.
Police said the two suspects jumped out and ran on foot. HPD caught the passenger right away, but the driver initially got away and was hiding in the field.
A police K-9 was released and found the suspect hiding. The suspect pulled a knife, but the K-9 unit attacked, biting the suspect.
The suspect was taken to the hospital for his dog bite. The dog wasn't hurt.
According to HPD, both suspects face charges for Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle and Felony Evading charges.
