Nine people were arrested this month following a prostitution sting in Harris County Precinct 4.

Officials say they received several complaints from citizens in Precinct 4 about prostitution in the neighborhood.

Investigators conducted undercover operations for the past two weeks on the streets and in hotels, focusing on prostitution.

Authorities arrested three women -- Kachandra Robinson, 21, Lanna Martinez, 42, and Catherine Bennett, 20 -- accused of soliciting prostitution near the North Freeway and Cypresswood Drive.

At Huffmeister and Fleur De Lis, officials arrested and charged six men with prostitution: Jesus Omar Rodriguez, 32, David Medina, 26, Martin Francisco Alvarez, 42, Charles Edward Mitcham, 68, Russell Louis Forrest, 36, and Gualberto Durand, 50.

Precinct 4 Constable Mark Herman said officials will continue to focus on prostitution issues in the residential and business districts.

“The businesses and citizens of north Harris County have made it clear that they refuse to just stand by and allow their communities to deteriorate to the point where prostitution is looked upon as a normal part of our local society,” Herman said. “These types of illegal activities seem to attract other bad elements such as drug dealers and users, thieves and others who would prey upon our local residents. It will not be overlooked, tolerated or condoned within our local communities where we live and raise our children.”
