HOUSTON – A suspect was wounded and two others were taken into custody after a chase in northeast Houston overnight.

According to the Harris County Precinct 3 Constable’s Office, deputy constables responded just after 2 a.m. Monday to a call of a car burglary in progress after a homeowner spotted a suspicious man looking into vehicles in his neighborhood.

When deputies arrived at the scene, the spotted the suspect truck fleeing the neighborhood. Investigators said a pursuit ensued with a chase lasting five blocks.

Deputies said the pursuit ended in the 9500 block of Maple Green Lane where the road dead ends. That is where the deputies cornered the suspect vehicle.

The suspect truck attempted to flee the scene and drove toward the deputy constables, investigators said. Deputies opened fire on the vehicle, striking the male driver in the shoulder.

The vehicle came to a stop when it struck one of the patrol units, and deputies apprehended the male driver and two passengers, a male and a female. Deputies said the wounded driver was taken to a local hospital in an unknown condition.

Deputies said the vehicle came back as being stolen, and they also found stolen construction equipment in the back of the truck.

No other injuries were reported.
