HOUSTON – A suspect was sent to the hospital after an accidental shooting overnight.

According to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office, it started when an off-duty deputy was driving home and the suspect hit the deputy's vehicle.

The suspect refused to stop, and a chase ensued. When the suspect finally pulled into a residential driveway on Connorvale in north Houston, the deputy approached his vehicle.

“When the deputy approached vehicle weapon in hand, he slipped and his weapon discharged grazing the suspect across the forehead,” HCSO Sgt. Cedrick Collier said.

The suspect is in good condition.

When he's released, the suspect may still face charges for failure to stop and felony evasion.
