HOUSTON - A man has been arrested and accused of stealing puppies at gunpoint and killing one of the puppies after running it over during his getaway.

According to the Rosenberg Police Department, officers were dispatched to the 2500 block of 3rd St. on Tuesday afternoon. The victim told police that several puppies and the puppies registration papers were taken at gunpoint by two unknown suspects.

The puppies are pure breed French Bulldogs, valued at $2,300 a puppy.

While the suspects were leaving the scene, one puppy was dropped and run over by the suspects' vehicle, killing the dog.

Jose Cruz, 28, was arrested and charged with aggravated robbery in connection with the case. Cruz is being held at the Fort Bend County Jail. No bond has been set.
