A pickup truck ran a red light and crashed into a patrol car early Saturday morning near downtown Houston, authorities say.
According to the Houston Police Department, and officer was traveling southbound on Fannin around 1:20 a.m. when a truck heading eastbound on Pierce ran a red light, crashing into the officer's vehicle.
Police say the officer was transported to Memorial Hermann for precautionary reasons with no serious injuries expected; a passenger in the truck was also transported to the hospital with a broken ankle.
The driver was suspected to be intoxicated and transported for further testing, HPD says.
The investigation is ongoing.
