HOUSTON – A man wanted on an aggravated assault charge was arrested after a chase through Houston overnight.

According to the Houston Police Department, it started at 2 a.m. when a patrol officer attempted to pull over a car for a traffic violation in the 9100 block of Lockwood.

Police said the driver refused to stop and led police on a chase to Crosstimbers where he abandoned the car between the Eastex Freeway and Hirsch.

The suspect ran south through a neighborhood, but officers were able to locate him after a short search with K-9 unit, police said.

Police said the suspect driver has a felony warrant for aggravated assault in Harris County and will face new charges of evading in a motor vehicle.
