HOUSTON – Police seized a bunch of guns discovered by firefighters after putting out a house fire in northeast Houston overnight.

HFD arson investigators called HPD to the scene in the 300 block of Persimmon.

Investigators said the home was unoccupied at the time of the fire, but firefighters discovered about 15 rifles and a couple of pistols inside.

HPD was asked to take the firearms since the home was not secure.  Investigators are trying to determine where the weapons came from since some were missing serial numbers.

The man who owns the house later told us his tenant collects guns as a hobby. He said the guns were bought legally at gun shows.

At last check, police had not confirmed that.
