HOUSTON – A standoff with a man accused of threatening his girlfriend ended peacefully after about two hours at a southwest Houston home Wednesday night.
According to the Houston Police Department, officers received a call at 9 p.m. from a woman claiming her boyfriend was threatening her and also threatening to commit suicide.
When HPD arrived at the scene in the 15100 block of Monrad Drive near Anderson Road, they found the woman outside in the front yard. She was not injured.
Officers attempted to contact the male suspect inside who had a pistol and a knife, but he refused to answer or come out of the home. Police said that is when SWAT officers were called in.
After SWAT officers made contact around 10:50 p.m., the suspect gave up and came out, police said.
The suspect was taken into custody. Police said no injuries were reported.
Police said the suspect faces a charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
