HOUSTON – Houston Police say officers made two DWI arrests at the same scene following a crash early Friday morning.

According to HPD, it was about 2:40 a.m. when an officer was stopped on the shoulder of the 610 Loop at Shepherd where he was taking a pickup driver into custody for suspicion of driving while intoxicated.

As the officer was making the arrest, another driver crashed into the rear of the HPD cruiser.

Police gave the offending driver a field sobriety test, and he or she was also taken into custody for suspicion of DWI.

No injuries were reported. The freeway was closed for about an hour during the investigation.
