A guilty conscience apparently got the best of the confessed killer from a 1986 Houston cold case.

Police say Lawrence Fox, 56, called them Thursday to admit he shot and killed a Houston teenager 30 years ago.

Fox told homicide detectives he shot 19-year-old Randy Erekson several times because the victim allegedly owed him money for drugs.

Erekson was found in his bed in the 3400 block of Blalock on February 18, 1986.

Fox was always a suspect but homicide investigators didn’t have enough evidence to charge him at the time.
