HOUSTON – Police are investigating what they think was a drive-by shooting in southeast Houston that left one teenager dead and another in the hospital.

According to the Houston Police Department, it happened after midnight early Wednesday at the Sir John Apartments, located in the 6600 block of Madrid.

Police said the two young teens were there when someone from an SUV opened fire on them. A 14-year-old girl and a 16-year-old boy were both hit.

Once police arrived, the victims were both taken to the hospital. The girl is currently in critical condition, but the boy did not make it, police said.

Police said he died at the hospital.

Police have been out at the scene for hours still trying to piece together exactly what happened. At this time, police say there are no known witnesses or suspects.
