HARRIS COUNTY, Texas – Homicide detectives are searching for clues after an intruder shot and killed a man while he slept in northwest Harris County overnight.

According to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office, it happened around 1 a.m. Tuesday at a home on Ann Louis Road near the Sam Houston Tollway and Highway 249.

When deputies arrived at the scene, they found the 38-year-old man dead in his bed from multiple gunshot wounds.

Investigators said an intruder made their way into the home and shot the victim while he was sleeping next to his girlfriend.

At this time, investigators do not have any suspect information and have not determined a point of entry for the intruder. They said there was no sign of forced entry.

They added that the woman’s five children, ranging in age from 2-22 years old, were home at the time of the fatal shooting.

Investigators said that no one was aware of the intruder’s presence in the home and only woke up when gunshots rang out.

Several people were seen detained at the scene of the fatal shooting, but all were released.
