HARRIS COUNTY, Texas - A man was found dead in a driveway early Saturday morning in north Harris County, deputies said.

According to the Harris County Sheriff's Office, they received a call around 4:20 a.m. from a residence in the 20700 block of Sycamore.

When deputies arrived, they found a 47-year-old man in the driveway with a severe wound to the head. He was pronounced dead shortly after.

The man was identified as Mauro Gaytan, a husband and father of five. He leaves behind his wife, three young children and two adult children. We're told one of his children turned 14 on Saturday.

Family members said Gaytan was leaving to go to work early Saturday morning when he was hit over the head by a metal pipe.

Witnesses told deputies they saw a man running from the area at the time. Authorities set up a perimeter and deployed a K-9 unit. After a few hours, the search was called off.

Family members believe it was a robbery but detectives said the motive is still under investigation.
