Police say several thieves broke into a local landscaping business overnight Wednesday and took off with nearly $500,000 in equipment.
The north Houston burglary was all caught on camera.
Jonathan Edwards, the owner of Texas Landscape Company, says six guys loaded up his equipment and then busted through his gates. The suspects had three trucks with attached trailers.
“I can just imagine, it probably looked like a swarm of bees coming out of our driveway,” said Edwards.
But little did they know, the big pieces of equipment were equipped with GPS tracking units. This was a saving grace for Edwards who called police.
“It was upsetting at first, I had to gather my thoughts, I knew everything was on GPS so I just wanted my equipment back, so our guys could go to work today,” he said.
Fast forward a few hours later, police managed to return all his equipment back.
Edwards says this isn’t the first time he’s dealt with something like this. He’s been burglarized at least four times in the past few years, but nothing to this magnitude.
He’s hoping this take down is a warning to others.
“You know hopefully future guys will see this and realize they will get caught,” said Edwards.
Police managed to arrest four out of the six suspects, they’re still looking for the other two suspects.
