GALVESTON, Texas – The driver blamed for a rollover crash that sent two children and three adults to the hospital has been charged with intoxication assault.

Galveston police say Michael Herrera, 39, was speeding Monday night when he ran a stop sign and crashed into a vehicle carrying the victims.

Both vehicles landed in a yard at 47th and Avenue Q.

The fire department used the jaws of life to rescue the victims. They were all taken to an area hospital and are expected to survive.

Herrera was also taken to the hospital. He is being held on a $50,000 bond.
