Deputies say a Katy-area man shot and killed his girlfriend after a heated argument the night before. The suspect was arrested walking down a street not far from the murder scene on Blossombury Court in West Harris County.

“He was still upset about an argument they had and confronted the female,” said Sgt. Robert Spurgeon of the Harris County Sheriff’s Office. “[He] discharged his weapon into her multiple times, taking her life.”

Investigators say the suspect then tossed the murder weapon into a storm drain and attempted to walk away from the victim’s house. Deputies arrested him a few minutes later. He appeared to break down and cry as detectives questioned him.

“There’s a large group of individuals who live in this house,” said Spurgeon. “We’re hearing anywhere from 20 to 25 live in this house at any given time.”

Deputies say the victim was in her early 30s, the suspect in his 40s. They have not yet released their names.

A neighbor says she witnessed a violent dispute between the pair last Spring. However, deputies say they have had no previous reports of disturbances at the house.
