2 in custody after stolen ATM found in back of U-Haul

Two men are in custody, according to officers with the Houston Police Department.
Police say around 5 a.m. two men took the forklift from the Chase at 5207 Airline. The theft triggered an alarm, and police arrived as the men were leaving in the U-Haul.

HOUSTON – Houston police say an ATM ripped from the outside of a bank using a forklift was found in the back of a U-Haul truck after a chase early Wednesday.

Two men are in custody, according to officers with the Houston Police Department.

Police say around 5 a.m. two men took the forklift from the Chase at 5207 Airline. The theft triggered an alarm, and police arrived as the men were leaving in the U-Haul.

One man got out of the truck and was arrested on the spot while the other man driving the U-Haul sped away.

That second suspect was later arrested after a chase on I-45 North to W. Mount Houston where he struck a curb and was taken into custody. The ATM was found in the back of the U-Haul.

Both men ace multiple charges, according to a police spokesman.
