The McDonald's Houston Children's Festival has been canceled due to the severe weather threat in the Houston area on Sunday.

Festival coordinators said safety concerns called the cancelation of festival activities on Sunday, April 2.

“After careful consideration, the McDonald’s Houston Children’s Festival will cancel today’s activities,” said Tony Terwilliger, Festival Director. “As a benefactor for Child Advocates, we stand for the safety of children and families.  We hope that while some may be disappointed, all will agree that safety is our number one concern."

The 29th Annual McDonald's Houston Children's Festival is the largest children's festival in the United States.

More than $5.4 million has been raised by the festival over the past 28 years for Child Advocates, Inc.
