KINGWOOD, Texas - Every year, the Kingwood Branch of the Harris County Public Library invites Santa Claus to town.
The tradition had to be relocated this year thanks to Hurricane Harvey.
“Our bottom floor of the library was the children’s section, so all of our books, all of our computers, all of our activities and toys -- all of those things were ruined in the flood,” said Sarah Cooper, Children’s Services Special at the Kingwood Branch Library.
But that doesn’t mean the holidays have to be ruined, too.
This year, they set up at the Kingwood Community Center.
“This is the time of year when kids love to come see Santa. Everyone wants their pictures taken with Santa. We just wanted to make sure we were still here for the community,” Cooper said. “It’s like, OK., I might have lost my apartment, I might have lost my car, I might have lost everything I have, but I can still get the kids dressed up and bring them out here and have a good time.”
Friends of the Library, Kingwood (FOLK) is accepting book and monetary donations on behalf of the Library.
