A Houston woman and her daughter got quite a gift – and a new start – Tuesday thanks to Habitat for Humanity and a former NFL star.

Terorah Davis and her daughter stepped into their new home Tuesday. Habitat for Humanity joined forces with Warrick Dunn Charities to make it happen.

“This is very exciting. I’m just overwhelmed,” Davis said. “I thank God for this opportunity.”

Dunn, a former professional running back, was on hand for the surprise.

“Even though I didn’t play in this city, I don’t live in Houston, I think it’s important to reach out and help other people across the country that are trying to help themselves.”

In addition to the new home, Davis and her daughter also got new furniture, a fully stocked kitchen and $5,000 in down payment assistance.

This is the 149th home Dunn’s charity has provided to single parents across the country.
