BRYAN, Texas - A Bryan woman has reached a big milestone.

She's 101.

Erna McCollum was born and raised in Riverside, Calif. but moved moved to the Lone Star state when she retired.

McCollum married her childhood sweetheart who also happened to be her next door neighbor growing up. They were married for 62 years before he passed.

During a majority of her lifetime, she was a seamstress.

"Well I wouldn't call myself a famous seamstress, I know I went to parties and spent a lot of time sewing with needle and thread. Also, I can't remember what I like, but the people were nice," McCollum said.

She has two daughters, four grand-children and eight great grand-children.

McCollum says she enjoys living in Texas because it's cheap, especially compared to Calif.
