The law may be closing in on accused sexual predator Harvey Weinstein but in the meantime veteran actor Paul Sorvino is menacing the fallen movie mogul for what he allegedly did to his Oscar-winning daughter, Mira Sorvino — and she's responding.
On Wednesday, a day after the Los Angeles district attorney confirmed a special task force is reviewing two criminal investigations of Weinstein by Beverly Hills police, TMZ posted a video interview withSorvino as he came out of a West Hollywood grocery store Tuesday evening.
“(Weinstein's) going to go to jail. Oh, yeah. That son of a (expletive)," the former Law & Order cast member calmly told the cameraman as he loaded groceries into the trunk of his car. "Good for him if he goes, because if not, he has to meet me. And I will kill the (expletive). Real simple.”
Mira gushed over her father via Twitter Wednesday following his protective warning to Weinstein.
"My love for my father has only continued to grow since this moment. All the love in my heart!," she wrote. "He is the most loving father, the most brilliant actor, the most beautiful operatic tenor, the most talented visual artist- the wisest and most human advice giver, & best Grandpa ever!!"
The message was attached to a quoted tweet that included a video clip of her 1996 Oscar acceptance speech, in which she also thanked her father.
Mira Sorvino, 50, who won a best-supporting-actress Oscar and a Golden Globe for 1995's Mighty Aphrodite, is one of more than 80 women who have accused Weinstein of sexual harassment, assault or rape in encounters dating back decades. Weinstein has denied all allegations of non-consensual sex.
Mira Sorvino told The New Yorker in October that while promoting Mighty Aphrodite at the 1995 Toronto International Film Festival, Weinstein “started massaging my shoulders, which made me very uncomfortable, and then tried to get more physical, sort of chasing me around.”
Then, Lord of the Rings director Peter Jackson said last month that Weinstein tried to derail Sorvino's career, ordering him not to cast Sorvino in the films by falsely claiming she was "nightmare" to work with.
Paul Sorvino, who has made a solid film and TV career of portraying authority figures, according to his IMDb profile, said in the video interview he knew nothing about this and was "absolutely furious" when he learned of it.
“If I had known it, he would not be walking. He'd be in a wheelchair.”
He said his daughter is a "courageous and a wonderful human being, and doesn't deserve to have been treated that way by this pig,” Sorvino said. “This pig will get his comeuppance. The law will get him. He's going to go to jail and die in jail.”
Who has accused Weinstein?: Harvey Weinstein scandal: A complete list of the 84 accusers
Weinstein has been under police investigation for alleged sexual assault and rape in multiple cities, including Los Angeles and New York, for months. In early November, Los Angeles District Attorney Jackie Lacey set up a new team of specially-trained investigators to review cases brought to the DA by police agencies in Los Angeles County.
NYPD Chief of Detectives Robert Boyce suggested to reporters in early November that investigators were pursuing a strong case there against Weinstein but no charges have yet been filed.
Nevertheless, Sorvino says he's ready, ending the TMZ interview with some dark humor. "If he doesn't (go to jail), Harvey, come here, I have some news for you," he said. "I'll just slap him around, I won't do anything terrible."
