HOUSTON - The Salt Grass Trail Ride is the largest and oldest of the 11 organizations headed to Houston on horseback this year.

On Wednesday, the group is making its way between last night's camp on a farm in Brookshire and Katy Park in Katy.

The Salt Grass Trail Ride first took place 66 years ago with four riders. Today, it includes a thousand people. When they line up their horses and wagons, they stretch out for about three miles.

They will arrive at Houston's Memorial Park around 11 a.m. Friday, along with the other 10 rides. Saturday morning, all the trail rides take part in the Rodeo Houston Parade downtown.
