HOUSTON - Thousands took part in the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo Parade in downtown Houston on Saturday.

University of Houston football coach Major Applewhite served as the parade's Grand Marshall.

Thousands of spectators were entertained by colorful floats, marching bands and over 3,000 trail riders visiting from Mexico, Louisiana and all over the state of Texas.

The parade marks the beginning of the 2017 Houston Rodeo season.

The parade began at 10 a.m. at Bagby and Walker and ended at Lamar and Bagby.

Prior to the parade, hundreds took part in the 30th Annual Rodeo Run downtown.
